Yokozuna (spot No. 27) wins the Royal Rumble Match
At more than 500 pounds, Yokozuna was a clear threat to do
damage in the 1993 Royal Rumble Match. But when he drew late No. 27, it made him
an instant favorite. With his sheer weight and girth, Superstars struggled to
lift him over the top rope. With his force, he eliminated the likes of fellow
big man Earthquake and lastly “Macho Man” Randy Savage to claim victory.
Yokozuna powered his way to glory, setting a new record at the time with seven
eliminations. Bob Backlund, amid a WWE comeback, made a strong showing. This
match also saw the shocking presence of the Giant Gonzalez, who immediately
targeted Undertaker.
