Stone Cold Steve Austin, Owen Hart, Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie vs. Triple H, Savio Vega and the New Age Outlaws

Heading into No Way Out, there were three big rivalries raging within WWE. Stone Cold Steve Austin had won the 1998 Royal Rumble, and would be facing Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XIV for the WWE Championship. The New Age Outlaws were having issues with Cactus Jack & Chainsaw Charlie over the World Tag Team Championship, and Owen Hart was the top challenger to Triple H’s European Championship. As a final buildup to WrestleMania, the eight men were pitted against each other in an Eight Man Tag Team Match in the main event of No Way Out.

However, Shawn Michaels was injured during his Casket Match with Undertaker at the Royal Rumble, and it was announced at the beginning of the show that he would be replaced. Triple H and the Outlaws promised someone who Austin also had issues with in the past; when the match rolled around, the mystery partner was revealed as Savio Vega of Los Boricuas, who had a heated rivalry with Austin two years earlier.

The match started out as a wild brawl, as both Savio and Cactus brought weapons with them to the ring. When the chaos finally settled, the Outlaws gained control and their team spent the majority of the match hammering on Chainsaw Charlie. After a brutal beating, Charlie finally made the tag to Cactus, and the chaos began again. Cactus took a brutal beating from his opponents, taking several chairshots from Triple H after being wrapped in barbed wire by Vega. Finally, a missed chairshot by Billy Gunn allowed Cactus to tag Austin, who destroyed his opponents and quickly hit the Stone Cold Stunner on Road Dogg to pick up the victory. After the match was over, he delivered a Stunner to Chyna for good measure.
